It’s all well and good to have business dreams. But you can’t really get rolling with them if your spouse isn’t on board – at least not in a way that maintains the harmony of your home. What do you do if your significant other isn’t as sold your business dream as you are? It’s a difficult subject and there are no foolproof answers, but I’m going to tackle it on this episode, so I hope you hang around to listen. And who knows? You might even discover some tips that help your marriage overall as well.
[2:05] Is your spouse on board with your entrepreneurial ideas and dreams?
You may be one of those blessed souls whose spouse is adventurous, eager to try new things, and totally jazzed about your business dreams. If so – I’m happy for you. Really. I am. 🙂 But there are many out there who don’t have a spouse who’s quite so willing to step out into the great unknown. My wife wasn’t all that keen on my big hairy ideas when I first started my online ventures. She didn’t have the benefit of all the podcasts and other resources I’d been learning from. And when I figured that out – everything changed.
[5:55] Bring them along, don’t try to force it.
If it should happen that your spouse shows resistance to your entrepreneurial or business dreams, don’t get defensive. That’s one of the worst things you can do. Instead, you need to be patient and help them understand the things you see – the potential and dreams you’re shooting for. It can be a long process but if you don’t walk that path you’ll wind up making a mess out of things. Be patient, help them understand, and trust God to get them there in the right timing. On this episode of Live Build Change I give you a handful of ways you can approach this issue, so be sure you listen.
[9:30] What if your spouse NEVER gets on board?
It’s possible that your spouse is never going to see eye to eye with you about your business dreams – and there could be lots of reasons that’s the case. So what do you do then? Give up on your dreams? Stop altogether? I’ve got some advice for you on this one. I hope you find it helpful.
